FAMA Ministries is a charitable organization that is changing the lives of families and individuals in the Great Lakes Region of Central Africa, especially Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. FAMA Ministries Inc. ("FAMA US") is a non-profit corporation organized under the laws of the State of Maine, with tax-exempt status under the laws of the United States. FAMA US exists to support the work of FAMA Ministries in Central Africa.

Since its inception, FAMA has contributed to the restoration and rehabilitation of the family unit in Central Africa. In this region, the family has devastated as a result of discrimination, exclusion, hatred, and poverty, all of which consitute both the causes and consequences of ongoing war and tribal conflict in the region.

The support provided by FAMA liberates and restores families and other vulnerable groups by attempting to reintegrate them into the surrounding society. Over the last decades, the family has been the principal victim of war, massacres and genocide. Some families lost children while others lost parents. Family goods were either pillaged or destroyed. Families were forced to flee for their lives, abandoning all their possessions. Others were ravaged by the brutal rape of mothers and daughters, as well as the unwanted children resulting from the rape. Through all these events, poverty and misery became the lot of most families in the region.

Since 2007, FAMA has made a difference. Thousands of individuals and their families have  been impacted through the work of FAMA. Children have been educated, families have been fed, and communities have been transformed. One by one, FAMA is restoring families--materially, psychologically, and socially. Even more, FAMA is bringing spiritual life to families and individuals by sharing the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. While FAMA's work flows completely from the Gospel, it serves all people regardless of religious beliefs.
