Pastor Ruben Ruganza is the President and Founder of FAMA Ministries. God birthed in his heart a vision to restore, rehabilitate and protect the family in the Great Lakes Region of Central Africa, primarily Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo and to see the family once again serve as a blessing to the world as God originally intended. That vision led to the birth of FAMA Ministries in 2004. In practical terms, the current work of FAMA includes seminars and training for leaders in all walks of life regarding the critical importance of the family; education of orphan and refugee children in Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo; the restoration and reintegration into society and the family of child and youth military; the restoration and support of women and girls ravaged by rape; and the rebuilding of the Pygmy community through education and stabilization of the family.
Pastor Ruganza has been in active ministry for most of his life. Since 1984, he has been a member of the Community of Free Pentecostal Churches in Africa (“CELPA”), a Norwegian Pentecostal denomination working in Central Africa. Pastor Ruganza has spent most of his professional life working with this denomination. In addition, since 2004, he has served as Associate Pastor of the Messianic Church for the Healing of Souls in Bujumbura, Burundi. He played a critical role in raising funds to enable this 4,000-member church to purchase land on which they are currently situated.
He began his professional career in 1975 as a High School Principal, a position he held for 5 years. From 1984 through 1988, he served as a hospital administrator. This led to a 12-year appointment as Coordinator of numerous hospitals and medical clinics, from 1988 to 2000. In 1995 he was appointed General Secretary of Churches, serving in that capacity until 2006.
Pastor Ruganza was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and is married to Abia Narangi. He is the father of nine children, seven by birth and two by adoption.
Pastor Ruganza has a passion to see the lost come to Jesus Christ, the family restored, and the name of Jesus be lifted up throughout the world.
